Jedi Knights:
The title of Jedi Knight follows that of Padawan, and precedes the rank of Jedi Master. A Padawan would become a Jedi Knight once he or she had passed the Jedi Trials. Knights are the backbone to the Jedi Order. Rather than immediately beginning to participate in galactic affairs, a Jedi Knight may also choose to train a new Padawan.

This is the title of a Jedi Knight who has been deemed - by the Jedi Council - worthy enough to carry the title. When this circustance comes into play, the Jedi Knight is then ordained and given the rank and title of Jedi Master.

The High Council is the primary governing body of the Jedi Order, and is comprised of twelve Jedi Masters or Jedi Knights who discuss and contemplate all aspects of the Order. The council is composed of five permanent members who have accepted a commitment to the Council. In addition, four long-term members serve until they chose to step down, and the limited-term members sit on the council for specified terms.

The Jedi Code:
The Jedi Code is the central philosophy and dogma of the Jedi Knights. Several versions exist, and the code is portrayed as having been appended over the millennia. Throughout all of the changes of the code, there is a central, core part of the code that remains the fundamental belief of a Jedi.

There is no emotion; there is peace.
There is no ignorance; there is knowledge.
There is no passion; there is serenity.
There is no death; there is the Force.

There is another version of the Jedi Code.
This version goes as follows:

Jedi are the guardians of peace in the galaxy.
Jedi use their powers to defend and protect, never to attack others.
Jedi respect all life, in any form.
Jedi serve others rather than ruling over them, for the good of the galaxy.
Jedi seek to improve themselves through knowledge and training.
